What started as a buzz-worthy and slightly controversial name—“3Sum”—for the joint Hall Week celebration by Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall, Alexander Kwapong Hall, and Jubilee International Students’ Hall has officially been rebranded. Say hello to “Tripora.”
In an interview on At The DJ’s Mercy with Kvng Kelly on Friday, June 20, 2025, Sabina Annor, the Organising Secretary of Sey Hall, confirmed the name change. She emphasized that while the name has been switched, the spirit and lineup of the celebration remain completely intact.
“It’s still the same collaboration,” Sabina said. “We just wanted a name that sounded more refined. ‘3Sum’ caught a lot of attention, but ‘Tripora’ feels more appropriate and professional for public use.”
Why the Name Change?
According to Sabina, the original name “3Sum” was meant to represent the unity of the three halls. The new name, Tripora, retains that same symbolism:
- “Tri” stands for the three collaborating halls,
- “Pora” is a nod to the Diaspora, the location of both Jubilee and Kwapong Halls.
The name change also aligns with a directive from the Dean of Students, Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, who has been actively encouraging unity and collaboration among student halls across the University of Ghana campus.
What to Expect at Tripora 2025
Despite the rebrand, Tripora Hall Week Celebration 2025 promises the same energy—if not more. Scheduled from June 29 to July 5, the week-long event will feature a power-packed lineup, headlined by the reigning TGMA Artiste of the Year, alongside a host of other top-tier performers and exciting student-centered activities.
So, whether you knew it as 3Sum or are just now hearing about Tripora, one thing’s for sure—it’s going to be an unforgettable celebration of culture, music, and campus unity.
